GeNreal is a Hip Hop artist based out of the Twin Cities who uses music as a platform to spark conversation and bring people together. He believes in personal freedom as well as kindness and compassion in all living things.
GeNreal was raised in rural Bethlehem New Hampshire, living with his mother Melissa and two brothers Noah and Jesse. Growing up he watched his mother raise three boys alone, and through that he inherited his work ethic In his teen years he would work at the family-run restaurant as well as DJ throughout the state. He was also a janitor at his local high school and a proud JV wrestling coach. All this was done while always practicing his craft of Hip Hop, making beats, DJ’ing, writing, researching and practicing.
After receiving a premier scholarship from McNally Smith College of Music, GeNreal left home at 18 and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. There he continues his passion and love for music and has had much success in a very short period of time.
GeNreal has released two new projects in under a year(with two more on the way). He has opened up for acts such as I Self Divine, Toki Wright and Soul Asylum, playing on stages such as The Dakota Jazz Club and The Stone Arch Bride Festival. He is currently the Administrative Assistant at Soul Tools Entertainment, an independent multimedia company based out of the Twin Cities. He is also an intern at Rhymesayers Entertainment, as well as a college contributing music journalist at The Current, the Twin Cities’ premier music news organization.
He was also a featured member on General Mills mixtape “Watch the Stove” a Hip Hop mixtape that became a viral sensation, being the number one trending Twitter topic for three days. GeNreals solo track “Food for Your Soul” has reached 606 thousand views on Soundcloud alone. And the song “She’s in Love” with production by GeNreal reaching 620 thousand views.
